Jelle Wiersma, PhD Candidate

Picture

In an alternate reality, not so different from our own, nuclear war obliterated much of the northern hemisphere in the 1970s. Some people were able to flee from the fallout and escaped to an uninhabited land, a place we know in this universe as Australia. Civilisation struggled to rebuild after the incident and tragedy ensued. Before long, however, Jelle arrived on the shores and brought with him a collection of butterflies that he rescued from the outskirts of the warzone. These butterflies had experienced some level of radiation and when they were released onto the country they brought calm and they brought order to the colonies of people who dwelt there. From that moment on, he has been the Lord of the Butterflies. When JCU was set up, he decided he would go back to school, so went undercover to being a PhD. And that is where you will find him today.
